Kicking the habit is Rihanna’s New Year resolution

The singer believes this is the right moment to stop smoking because of the leisure time she’s got to pursue her other interests. The celebrity news portal learns from a source that the singer wants to devote more time to physical activities after quitting, so she does not gain extra weight.
Her decision to quit smoking may have been influenced by the health warnings she recently received from her personal physicians, Showbizspy.com notes, reminding that some time back the Barbadian singer was asked by her doctors to reins in her party sprees. Rihanna has of late been frequently spotted drinking and smoking in lavish parties, the newswire says. Doctors say Rihanna does not have much quality time to simply relax and feel good about her health. What concerns the doctors is that she is living up an extremely busy schedule, spending long hours recording in the studio or performing on stage. Indicating that her decision to quit smoking is a timely one, the doctors say the singer needs to be away from her tight schedule for a while. Failing to do so might result in a deterioration of her overall health, they warn. It may be noted that weight gain is commonly associated with smoking cessation, particularly for women. This is why many women fall into a relapse shortly after they stop smoking, mainly to curb the risk of piling on pounds.
